EM Quant® Blank Strips, Catalog No. 11860
Test strips without reagents
General
The blank strips incorporate a paper zone not
impregnated with reagent. When dipped into a colored solution, the
paper assumes a color replacing the zero value on the color scale. The
color produced on the reaction zone during a detection or
determination reaction is then compared with the color of the blank
strip. If the result is negative, both strips are the same color. If
the result is positive, the test strip is of a color equivalent to the
respective color on the color scale plus the color of the blank strip.
The blank strips can also be used to prepare test strips for use in other
determinations. This is done by impregnating with suitable substances
on a trial and error basis to discover the optimum reaction conditions.
Strips are best impregnated by immersing in a suitable reagent solution
and drying with a hair dryer or in a drying cabinet at up to 60°C.
The strips are then ready to use.
